George E. Karsnak, 78, of Jessup, formerly of Lakeland Florida died Wednesday March 30, 2022 at the Allied Hospice Center. His wife of 53 years is the former Barbara Wally.
Born in Scranton he was the son of the late George and Mabel Mayer Karsnak Kosh and step-father Theodore Kosh. A graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1961, he proudly served in the United State Navy.
He was the owner and proprietor of George E. Karsnak Plumbing and Heating, then prior to retirement he was employed at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center as building maintenance foreman.
George was an Eagle Scout, a former member of both the Plumbers Local #90, and the Steamfitters Local #527, Jessup American Legion Post #411, and former member of American Legion Post #4 in Lakeland, Florida. He loved riding his Harley and was also a member of the Harley owners group.
George’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Allied Hospice, Dr. Randall Brundage, and to Rev. Scott Sterowski for all of their care and compassion.
Also surviving are daughters Shelly Gogolski and husband Jeff, Waymart, Amy Karsnak and fiancé Steven Slagus, Lake Ariel; son Robert Karsnak and wife Jennifer, Jessup; grandchildren Abby and Tommy Gogolski, Jacob, Daniel, and Andrew Karsnak; sisters Marge Cimino, and Rosemary Manko, brother John Karsnak, and Michael Karsnak; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware St., Olyphant. All attending the Mass are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup. Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday from 5-7 pm in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allied Hospice Center, 511 Morgan Highway, Scranton, PA 18508.
