Robert M. Adams, 74, of Jermyn, died Wednesday after a valiant five-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His wife is the former Jo Ann Calvario and they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in July.
He was the son of the late Michael and Rose Torch Adams and was born in Carbondale. He was a 1968 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale. He graduated from Electronic Computer Programming Institute in Wilkes-Barre and Foti 2 Floral Design School in Windsor, N.Y.
He is a proud United States Marine who served his country in Vietnam. After his military service he worked for Met Life on mainframe computers in data processing. While there, he made lifelong friends. He owned and operated Leonard’s Flower Shop in Jessup for 13 years. His latest entrepreneurial venture was Bob’s Custom Closets where he designed, built and installed custom closets.
Bob was a member of the National American Legion, life member of Jessup VFW Post 5544 and a member of Veterans of the Vietnam War.
Bob was a lifelong car enthusiast and loved the camaraderie of car shows where he made many close friends. He especially liked Corvettes and was the proud owner of two. As a car lover, he could name the make, model and year of almost any car that passed him by. He had a natural talent for repairing or building almost anything. He kindly shared these skills with friends, family and anyone who needed help.
