Obituary for Cicina Marra

Cicina Maryann Marra, 95, of Peckville died Thursday September 28, 2023, at the Allied Services Hospice Center. She was the widow of Angelo “Bibi” Marra who died in 1984.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Giovaninna Guagliardo. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry and was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU) for many years.

Her meticulous nature enabled her to excel as a lead garment worker due to her speed and precision. She had an eye for fashion and was a “spiffy dresser” in her day. Cicina was a great organizer and kept an immaculate house. In her school days, she received top honors in penmanship.

She and her husband enjoyed listening to Big Band music and joining in family picnics and get-togethers. They enjoyed spending time at their cottage at Newton Lake, and family enjoyed Cicina’s quick wit and great sense of humor.

When her husband became seriously ill later in life, her love and compassion spurred her on to become his consummate caregiver.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, medical and emotional support staffs, activity leaders, and direct caregivers at Regional Hospital, Allied Skilled Nursing, Allied Terrace, Celebration Villa, and Allied Hospice of Scranton—as well as all the friends she made along the way.

Surviving are nieces Ann Ligi Nicholas and husband Bill, Shawnee on Delaware, and Jennien Thompson, New York; nephews Paris Ligi and wife Noreen, Jessup, and Thomas Ligi, Peckville; many nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Illuminata Guagliardo, Frances Wormuth, Carlo Guagliardo, and Ann Ligi.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
